Essence n'est pas l'innocence, elle n'est pas divine et le droit traite de la vérité sur les crimes.

Le latin essentia dérive du verbe esse, être. L'essence est ainsi traditionnellement ce qui caractérise un être, ce qui lui confère son identité par opposition au fait qu'elle soit, à son existence. Éthique II, définition II précise que l'essence d'une chose est "ce qui, étant donné, fait que cette chose est nécessairement posée, et qui, supprimé fait que cette chose est nécessairement supprimée". Ce qui donne ensuite lieu à cette reformulation : "ce sans quoi une chose, et inversement ce qui sans cette chose, ne peut ni être, ni être conçu". Par exemple, supposons qu'on froisse une feuille de papier sur notre bureau : on ne peut pas faire ensuite que cette feuille n'ait pas été froissée. L'acte de froisser la feuille de papier est ici l'essence de cette feuille de papier froissé : dès que l'acte posé, la chose est nécessairement posée. Tant que cet acte n'est pas posé ou si on parvient à l'empêcher ou encore à le supprimer, il ne saurait y avoir de feuille de papier froissé : sans l'essence, la chose ne saurait exister ou être conçue. Inversement, s'il n'y a pas de feuille de papier froissé, si la feuille de papier est toujours plate, il ne saurait y avoir eu d'acte de froisser la feuille : sans la chose (cette "boule" de papier sur mon bureau), l' essence (le "froissement" de la feuille) ne saurait exister ou être conçue. Bien que distinctes, l'essence d'une chose et la chose elle-même sont inséparables.

Originalité de l'essence spinozienne
On remarquera pour commencer que la définition spinozienne de l'essence ne l'identifie ni à la substance ni au genre et à l'abstraction comme l'ont fait Aristote et la scolastique. L'essence se rapporte ici aux choses singulières et non à des généralités. On peut la rapporter à la cause prochaine adéquate, mais non à n'importe quelle cause.

La substance est ce qui est en soi et se conçoit par soi, ce qui n'est pas "en autre chose". La substance a certes une essence, mais tout ce qui possède une essence n'est pas substance : même si certaines propriétés intrinsèques ou extrinsèques peuvent se rapporter à lui, un triangle ne peut se concevoir sans les lignes droites qui le constituent, ni le plan dans lequel il se manifeste. Le triangle n'est donc pas une substance, mais il n'en possède pas moins une essence. L'essence est ce par quoi une chose peut être conçue mais elle n'a pas à être cause de soi.

Soit par exemple une goutte d'eau, dont l'essence est d'être la réaction à une certaine température entre des atomes d'hydrogène et d'oxygène, dans un rapport de deux pour un (H2O). Si cette synthèse est opérée, la goutte d'eau est posée. Si on supprime cette synthèse ou ne serait-ce qu'un des éléments de cette synthèse, il ne peut plus y avoir d'eau. Aussi essence et existence (d'une chose) ne sont distinctes qu'abstraitement. Concrètement, réellement, il n'y a pas de distinction : la goutte d'eau ne peut ni être, ni être adéquatement conçue sans son essence, la rencontre à une certaine température d'atomes d'hydrogène et d'oxygène. Et cette rencontre, l'essence de la goutte d'eau, ne peut être conçue sans l'existence concrète de cette goutte d'eau. Voir définition.

Certains voient dans le referendum une forme de combat de coq ou de boxe, en tout cas, à l'image d'un vote électif, il est un aspect fondamentale d'une cohésion morale auquel la démocratie doit faire face: Il surpasse l'aspect de l'état et sans le remettre en cause, il est capable de pointer certaines choses de la vie quotidienne. Dans certains pays, il y a l'aspect de pétition qui peuvent être soumise au suffrage universel indirect... Le suffrage universel direct auquel appartient le Référendum est un aspect essentiel du caractère humain auquel un peuple veut s'adresse envers ses nouvelles générations... Le fait de débattre est un outil essentiel en terme de communication et pourtant dans certains cas, la question du Référendum relève de l'intérêt de l'état régalien, c'est en cela que certains hésitent sur son aspect même mais il montre l'aspect même de l'interlocuteur qui propose le sujet de la question. Le référendum est une loi d'utopie qui pourtant montre l'aspect réel de l'individu dans la société: En cela, j'accorde une importance réelle dans la constitution de Y'becca et des Républiques d'Israël et de la Palestine ainsi que dans toutes les Nations Morales et Physiques pour une reconnaissance morale et intellectuel dans le référendum: Son vote est lié malheureusement à des disputes entre des élu"e"s du Suffrage universel indirect... Toutefois, tout comme le vote direct du parlement et tout vote indirect du parlement, le référendum ne peut être organiser pour un Conflits d’intérêts et en cela, c'est au pouvoir judiciaire et à ses membres qu'il soit public et privé tout en maintenant et mettant l'aspect du service public militaire et civil dans la lutte contre les Conflits d’intérêts qui pourrait s'ingérer dans la teneur du débat et du vote: L'aspect du Général, de la société et l'individu doit être soulever en soulevant toutes les égalités et inégalités que peuvent engendrer le référendum... Certains peuvent s'amuser à créer de lois et des référendum pour des Conflits d’intérêts, pour créer des désordres et par gloire personnel... Cela n'est pas dans l'intérêt de l'harmonie sereine auquel nous devons être en ces situations profondes de changement de climat: "De jour en jour; le petit Nuage de Magellan et La Galaxie d'Andromède évolue depuis µ Êta Careme" s'écrie Nagaliew la mouette aux yeux verts..."

Je regarde le temps différemment après la mort de Athéna la chatte Bleue.
De longues années à voyager; à travailler et à écrire... Tel un Spartiate, je me suis emprunt à une apogée sur la compréhension du monde qui m'entourai de ses richesses; J' y ai rencontré des lueurs, des affronts et des forces.

Je regarde celle qui a su réveiller la force de réveiller ces écrits que j'ai voulu sauvegarder par le fait que après
tout, aide toi et le ciel te répondra: Et je dois dire que ma volonté fut exaucer... Alors je regarde Minouska, une chatte qui a recueilli mon cœur en lambeau lors de la guerre ou intifada, si vous préférez:

Le Juge Suprême de la république de l'Olivier est un personnage
qui doit s'informer et accueillir la Parole de l'un et de l'Autre. Il se doit d'écrire des vers, des proverbes, des espoirs, des fables car notre peuple aime cela: Ni fouet, ni chaines ! être sérieux devant les nuages gris !

Dans la vallée du Nil à la plaine des cèdres; le juge suprême doit présenter ses hontes et ses espoirs... je vous fait part de mon expérience... Nuls réponses dans un premiers temps ne se fit entendre alors j'envoyai des mouettes, des chouettes et des canaris sous forme de lettre tel un oiseau qui apprends son premier envol.

Car certains vomissent sur la fraternité voilà un maillon de haine du trois en un délivré par le vieux coq... Rétablit l'apprentissage de l'Espérance sur l'apprentissage de marcher ! La canne de l'age n'est pas un spectre; elle est une source d'eau ! Tu apprendra à entendre ta douleur devant la faim ! Nous sommes des étapes et en cela cherche le fait d'exister ! What Is an Earthquake?

An earthquake is an intense shaking of Earth’s surface. The shaking is caused by movements in Earth’s outermost layer.

Why Do Earthquakes Happen?

Although the Earth looks like a pretty solid place from the surface, it’s actually extremely active just below the surface. The Earth is made of four basic layers: a solid crust, a hot, nearly solid mantle, a liquid outer core and a solid inner core.

The solid crust and top, stiff layer of the mantle make up a region called the lithosphere. The lithosphere isn’t a continuous piece that wraps around the whole Earth like an eggshell. It’s actually made up of giant puzzle pieces called tectonic plates. Tectonic plates are constantly shifting as they drift around on the viscous, or slowly flowing, mantle layer below.

This non-stop movement causes stress on Earth’s crust. When the stresses get too large, it leads to cracks called faults. When tectonic plates move, it also causes movements at the faults. An earthquake is the sudden movement of Earth’s crust at a fault line.

The location where an earthquake begins is called the epicenter. An earthquake’s most intense shaking is often felt near the epicenter. However, the vibrations from an earthquake can still be felt and detected hundreds, or even thousands of miles away from the epicenter.
How Do We Measure Earthquakes?

The energy from an earthquake travels through Earth in vibrations called seismic waves. Scientists can measure these seismic waves on instruments called seismometer. A seismometer detects seismic waves below the instrument and records them as a series of zig-zags.

Scientists can determine the time, location and intensity of an earthquake from the information recorded by a seismometer. This record also provides information about the rocks the seismic waves traveled through.

Do Earthquakes Only Happen on Earth?

Earthquake is a name for seismic activity on Earth, but Earth isn’t the only place with seismic activity. Scientists have measured quakes on the Earth’s moon, and see evidence for seismic activity on Mars, Venus and several moons of Jupiter, too!

NASA’s InSight mission will carry a seismometer to Mars to study seismic activity there, known as marsquakes. On Earth, we know that different materials vibrate in different ways. By studying the vibrations from marsquakes, scientists hope to figure out what materials are found on the inside of Mars.

Space Volcanoes!

For years, most scientists figured that Jupiter’s moon Io didn’t have a lot going on. Many moons are ‘geologically dead.’ That means that they don’t have things like earthquakes, newly forming mountains, or volcanoes. But it turns out, these scientists were dead wrong about Io.

NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft took the first close up pictures of Io in 1979. The pictures showed a massive plume erupting from its surface into space. Not only did Io have volcanoes—they were active! This was the first time an erupting volcano had been found anywhere besides Earth.

There are volcanoes all around our solar system. But only a few places besides Earth—like some of the moons of Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune—have active ones today. Use the Space Volcano Explorer to learn more about our solar system’s many volcanoes.

Even today, as we use telescopes to see galaxies far away, we see they are moving away from us. And that’s not all. The farthest galaxies are moving faster than the ones close to us.

This happens because of how the universe began, which we sometimes call the "Big Bang."

In this activity, you'll make your own stretchy universe slime.

What you need:
a photo of a teaspoon of borax, school glue, red and blue food coloring, glitter, measuring cups, two bowls, and wax paper on a table top

Clear school glue

1 teaspoon of borax

Water

Red and blue food coloring

Two bowls

Measuring cups: 1/2 cup and 1 cup

Glitter

Wax paper


Caution!

Do not eat borax, and don't wipe it in your eye.

Borax is safe to use, and in fact is an ingredient in many laundry soaps, but do NOT put it in your mouth. You also don't want to have it on your hands and wipe your eye. If you do, rinse thoroughly with water. Refer to the borax package with any other safety concerns.


What to do:

In one bowl, mix 1/2 cup of glue with 1/2 cup of water. Stir it together; it will mix nicely.

Note: You may also use white school glue, but your universe slime will be lightly colored and opaque.

Add food coloring to the glue and water mixture. We used 6 drops of blue and 3 drops of red to get a nice, dark purple color.

In the other bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of borax with 1 cup of lukewarm water.

Stir until the borax is dissolved. This takes a while, so you have to be patient. If you skip this step, your slime will not come together very well.

Stir, stir, stir, until you don't feel the crunch of the solid bits of borax on the bottom. The water will start to look a little cloudy.

Add the purple glue mixture to your borax water, stirring slowly as you pour it.

You'll see the slime start to form. Stir as much as you can. Use your hands to get in there and work it around.

Take your glob of slime out of the bowl and put it on your wax paper. It's okay if there is some water left behind.

It's time to add some glitter galaxies! Flatten out your slime and spread glitter over the top. You can use any color or combination of colors, but lighter ones will work best because they will stand out against the dark purple.

Fold your slime in half to seal in the glitter. Then press it out and fold it over again.

Keep pressing and folding and watch as the glitter spreads throughout your slime.

Play with your handheld universe and watch it stretch and expand!

Storing your universe slime:

To keep your universe slime from drying out, store it in a sealed sandwich bag. Do not wrap it in foil or wax paper because it will stick to those materials.

What's This Big Bang All About?

In 1927, an astronomer named Georges Lemaître had a big idea. He said that a very long time ago, the universe started as just a single point. He said the universe stretched and expanded to get as big as it is now, and that it could keep on stretching.

The universe is a very big place, and it’s been around for a very long time. Thinking about how it all started is hard to imagine.

Some More Information

Just two years later, an astronomer named Edwin Hubble noticed that other galaxies were moving away from us. And that’s not all. The farthest galaxies were moving faster than the ones close to us.

This meant that the universe was still expanding, just like Lemaître thought. If things were moving apart, it meant that long ago, everything had been close together.
Hubble looks into a big telescope and says

Everything we can see in our universe today—stars, planets, comets, asteroids—they weren't there at the beginning. Where did they come from?

A Tiny, Hot Beginning

When the universe began, it was just hot, tiny particles mixed with light and energy. It was nothing like what we see now. As everything expanded and took up more space, it cooled down.

The tiny particles grouped together. They formed atoms. Then those atoms grouped together. Over lots of time, atoms came together to form stars and galaxies.

The first stars created bigger atoms and groups of atoms called molecules. That led to more stars being born. At the same time, galaxies were crashing and grouping together. As new stars were being born and dying, then things like asteroids, comets, planets, and black holes formed!

A Super Long Time

How long did all of this take? Well, we now know that the universe is 13,800,000,000 years old—that’s 13.8 billion. That is a very long time.

What's in a Name?

That’s pretty much how the universe began. Because it got so big and led to such great things, some people call it the "Big Bang." But maybe a better name would be the "Everywhere Stretch." What do you think?

What is a galaxy?

We live on a planet called Earth that is part of our solar system. But where is our solar system? It’s a small part of the Milky Way Galaxy.

A galaxy is a huge collection of gas, dust, and
of stars and their solar systems. A galaxy is held together by gravity. Our galaxy, the Milky Way, also has a

When you look up at stars in the night sky, you’re seeing other stars in the Milky Way. If it’s really dark, far away from lights from cities and houses, you can even see the dusty bands of the Milky Way stretch across the sky.

There are many galaxies besides ours, though. There are so many, we can’t even count them all yet! The
looked at a small patch of space for 12 days and found 10,000 galaxies, of all sizes, shapes, and colors. Some scientists think there could be as many as

galaxies in the universe.

This is the picture taken by the Hubble Space Telescope showing thousands of galaxies. Even the tiny dots are whole galaxies. The universe is a very big place!

Some galaxies are spiral-shaped like ours. They have curved arms that make it look like a pinwheel. Other galaxies are smooth and oval shaped. They’re called elliptical galaxies. And there are also galaxies that aren’t spirals or ovals. They have irregular shapes and look like blobs. The light that we see from each of these galaxies comes from the stars inside it.

Sometimes galaxies get too close and smash into each other. Our Milky Way galaxy will someday bump into Andromeda, our closest galactic neighbor. But don’t worry. It won’t happen for about five billion years. But even if it happened tomorrow, you might not notice. Galaxies are so big and spread out at the ends that even though galaxies bump into each other, the planets and solar systems often don’t get close to colliding.

Every 1.5 millionths of a second, the Sun releases more energy than all humans consume in an entire year. Without the Sun there would be no light, no warmth, and no life.

Its heat influences the environments of all the planets, dwarf planets, moons, asteroids, and comets in our solar system.

How does a big ball of hydrogen create all that heat? The short answer is that it is big. If it were smaller, it would be just be a sphere of hydrogen, like Jupiter.

But the Sun is much bigger than Jupiter. It would take almost 1,000 Jupiters to fill it up!

That’s a lot of hydrogen. That means it’s held together by a whole lot of gravity. And THAT means there is a whole lot of pressure inside of it.

In fact, the pressure is so intense, and the density so great, that the hydrogen atoms collide with enough force that they literally meld into a new element—helium.

This process—called nuclear fusion—releases energy while creating a chain reaction that allows it to occur over and over and over again.

That energy builds up. It gets as hot as 27 million degrees Fahrenheit in the sun’s core. The energy travels outward through a large area called the convective zone. Then it travels onward to the photosphere, where it emits heat, charged particles, and light.

That heat powers the chemical reactions that make life possible on Earth, allows gases and liquids to exist on many planets and moons, and causes icy comets to form fiery halos.

Those particles create a ‘solar wind’ that pushes against the fabric of interstellar space billions of miles away.

And that light travels far out into the cosmos—just one star among billions and billions.

Not too bad for a big ball of gas, no?

How do hurricanes form?

Hurricanes are the most violent storms on Earth. People call these storms by other names, such as typhoons or cyclones, depending on where they occur. The scientific term for all these storms is tropical cyclone. Only tropical cyclones that form over the Atlantic Ocean or eastern Pacific Ocean are called "hurricanes."

Whatever they are called, tropical cyclones all form the same way.

Tropical cyclones are like giant engines that use warm, moist air as fuel. That is why they form only over warm ocean waters near the equator. The warm, moist air over the ocean rises upward from near the surface. Because this air moves up and away from the surface, there is less air left near the surface. Another way to say the same thing is that the warm air rises, causing an area of lower air pressure below.

A cumulonimbus cloud. A tropical cyclone has so many of these, they form huge, circular bands.

Air from surrounding areas with higher air pressure pushes in to the low pressure area. Then that "new" air becomes warm and moist and rises, too. As the warm air continues to rise, the surrounding air swirls in to take its place. As the warmed, moist air rises and cools off, the water in the air forms clouds. The whole system of clouds and wind spins and grows, fed by the ocean's heat and water evaporating from the surface.

Storms that form north of the equator spin counterclockwise. Storms south of the equator spin clockwise. This difference is because of Earth's rotation on its axis.

As the storm system rotates faster and faster, an eye forms in the center. It is very calm and clear in the eye, with very low air pressure. Higher pressure air from above flows down into the eye.

If you could slice into a tropical cyclone, it would look something like this. The small red arrows show warm, moist air rising from the ocean's surface, and forming clouds in bands around the eye. The blue arrows show how cool, dry air sinks in the eye and between the bands of clouds. The large red arrows show the rotation of the rising bands of clouds.

When the winds in the rotating storm reach 39 mph, the storm is called a "tropical storm." And when the wind speeds reach 74 mph, the storm is officially a "tropical cyclone," or hurricane.

Tropical cyclones usually weaken when they hit land, because they are no longer being "fed" by the energy from the warm ocean waters. However, they often move far inland, dumping many inches of rain and causing lots of wind damage before they die out completely.

The two GOES satellites keep their eyes on hurricanes from far above Earth's surface—22,300 miles above, to be exact! (Learn more about this kind of orbit.)

These satellites, built by NASA and operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), save lives by helping weather forecasters predict and warn people where and when these severe storms will hit land.
